Vintage Blue Mason Jars

Last Summer on our trip to Arizona, I was able to bring home all kinds of wonderful thrifty finds.  So this year, my treasure hunting mom and I excitedly headed out on our thrifting extravaganza full of expectation.  (We were well-prepared with an empty van and a full bottle of hand sanitizer.)  Unfortunately, like the parched desert terrain, the thrifting well came up dry.  Two of the stores that we had great success in last Summer weren’t even in business anymore.  In most shops the selection was lacking and I was a little surprised by the high price tags.  (This was a little town in the middle of nowhere but they certainly kept up with the big city prices.)

But all was not lost.  I was able to find two reasonably priced vintage looking mason jars in my favorite blue.

Now I don’t know much about Mason jars and how to tell if they are authentically vintage or merely reproductions.  But to be quite honest, I really don’t care.  I bought these two jars for purely aesthetic reasons.

I like their worn zinc lids with the ceramic inserts.

They’re both in decent condition with no chips or cracks.

Perfect as an impromptu vase for a handful of sunflowers.

I guess my Arizona thrifting outing can be deemed a success after all.  As I ended up with two “Perfect”  jars and I must say I’m quite digging them.
