Today I counted eleven different styles of chairs in my home.
Yes, it’s true.
An eclectic array of sorts. And no, I’m not a collector or a hoarder (of chairs, anyway…) I just appreciate many chair designs all at the same time. And aside from keeping my family’s backsides comfortable and secure, they each have a specific purpose.
Some of my chairs play up their curvy lines. The green velvet chair above was originally in my daughter’s room, but after I made her a fashionista clothing rack out of plumbing pipes, the chair was moved down to the piano/dining room. (Where the cat immediately claimed it as her personal fainting couch.)
The teal chair is actually from a set of two. They were my first Craig’s List purchase. I ended up painting the wood trim white with chalk paint. The chairs sit, flanking the fireplace and they are used daily.
There are white-painted, farmhouse style, wood chairs around the kitchen table. An upholstered, square-shaped red chair upstairs, joining that standard style of Ikea chair that my husband bought back in college. A fifties style schoolhouse chair and a brown leather recliner are just two more examples of seat selection in my humble abode.
My favorite chair of the moment though, is my new fiberglass rocker. I had been eyeing this style for quite some time, so I was positively thrilled when I found out I had won it from entering a giveaway.
This rocker gives off a bit of a retro vibe and gets along quite nicely with the other chairs in the house.
So what about you? What type of chair do you play favorites with? And have you ever actually counted the different chair styles in your home?
