As the year 2013 swings to a close, it seems appropriate to reminisce.
To view the favorites and most popular.
Projects, that is.
This past year at Charming Zebra has seemed to just speed on by. A savage onslaught of the flu hit our family hard and basically took over most of the month of December. Christmas was more of a subdued and sober affair with me spending a good portion of the time in bed.
All blogging and holiday projects came to a complete stop. (In fact, this is the first time I’ve posted since my Christmas Home Tour at the beginning of the month.)
So, on to the highlights!
1) My Favorite Room
I absolutely loved when I painted the wall of my fireplace mantel black a couple of years ago.
This year, though, I repainted the wall white and I love it even more.
I’ve become slightly obsessed with white paint, in fact, and have been generously introducing it to many walls in my home.
2) The Project Which Needed the Most Muscle
This fashionista clothing rack out of plumber’s pipe was one of my favorite projects.
My daughter needed more storage for her fashions and prompted me into creating this industrial solution.
3) Most Favorite Thrifty Find
All this gumball machine needed was a simple coat of bright, yellow paint.
But since I had been searching for the better part of a year for one, I was delighted to find it in the dusty attic of an antique store while on vacation.
Definitely, one of my favorite finds.
4) The Project I Fell In Love With
I had been planning this project for a while. Just a simple string art deer.
And when I finally got around to doing it, I absolutely fell in love with the result.
I had to curb the sudden impulse of incorporating deer heads into every subsequent project.
5) The Favorite Project Done On a Whim
I was right in the middle of writing a post, earlier in the year, when I happened to glance up at my front door. I immediately knew that I simply HAD to add stripes to the door edge.
I stopped what I was doing and promptly started painting stripes.
And I simply adore it.
6) The Quickest, Most Popular Project
Turning this reproduction Mason jar into a soap dispenser literally just took a few minutes.
Even though it has gained a dose of popularity on Pinterest, I still put it to work daily, at the side of my kitchen sink.
7) The Most Surprising Finished Project.
I was surprised and quite pleased with the way my tulip wreath turned out.
Who knew that dollar store flowers could be so pretty?
8) The Most Linked Project
Last Summer, I filled a vintage soda crate with real and not so real succulents to create a fun, summery planter.
It soon became one of my most-linked projects.
9) The Most Popular Project Ever
Blogging is interesting in the way that you can never fully predict which projects will be a hit and which will end up echoing crickets.
My Ridiculously Easy No Sew Blind was one of those very simple ideas that didn’t seem to merit any fanfare.
I posted it almost as an afterthought and it has surprisingly become the most popular of all my posts. EVER.
(Who knew the amazing power of magnets and fabric glue?)
And as a blog would be nothing without its readers, I want to give many thanks to those who have diligently followed Charming Zebra this year, to the brand new readers and to those who just happened to stumble across a post. I couldn’t have done it without you.
Happy New Year!
