When one thinks of the term, DIY (or do-it-yourself), usually a project full of power tools and stacks of lumber comes to mind.
Removing walls, laying tile, building a deck or ripping out a kitchen.
Tasks that require muscle, a tape measure and a moderate to hefty amount of cash, patience and a bit of insanity.
But, DIY can also encompass modifying something for a different purpose. Something small and quick and easy.
Like changing a plain mason jar into a semi-glamorous gold vase.
I started out with a plain, unassuming, blue mason jar.
I removed the two pieces of the lid and spray painted the jar with shiny gold spray paint.
(I would have used primer first, but I didn’t have any, so I didn’t.)
And that’s it.
I just filled the jar-turned-vase with water and added a few blooms.
A simple way to DIY and add a little bling at the same time.
So what about you? Do your DIY projects generally require weeks of manual labor? Or do you occasionally go for the quicker makeovers that require no more than a fabulous new paint color?
