Gold Magnetic Letters.
Scattered across the surface of the fridge.
Sharing instant messages and sweet nothings.
Welcome to Day 2 of my All That Glitters Is Gold series.
Last summer, I ran across this fun idea of glamming up the traditional alphabet fridge letters from Inspired By Charm.
I remember having fun playing with the alphabet on our fridge as a child, so it seemed perfect to make my own version of these gloriously gold magnetic letters.
I found two packs of the colorful alphabet in the dollar section at Wal-Mart.
I placed all the letters in a cardboard box and spray painted them with Rustoleum Metallic Gold.
Such an easy project, although there was one slight mishap…
…It was a bit breezy so I wedged the box between a few bricks for stability while the paint was drying. Well, the wind picked up to a Mary Poppins level, tossing the box through the air, scattering gold letters across the yard.
No biggie. I was just able to have my own private alphabet hunt.
The gilding of the letters turned out great. And now we have a fun way to leave cryptic messages, chore reminders, diet encouragement (NO?) and sweet nothings on the fridge.
So what about you? Have you crafted a grown-up version of a favorite childhood activity?
